6 Souls (2010)

Yesterday, I was still playing catch-up from my horror-filled afternoon on Saturday. While I am still not done with that material, I decided to watch and review one other movie before I get back to that. Last night, I sat down and watched 6 Souls (AKA Shelter) from 2010.

Plot/ A female forensic psychiatrist discovers that all of one of her patient's multiple personalities are murder victims. She will have to find out what's happening before her time is finished.

Originally filmed for a 2010 release as the movie Shelter, this is an interesting little flick. Yes, it is a bit disjointed as it starts out as a supernatural thriller and then cascades into an almost Voodoo themed affair. The acting is solid and does a great job building some atmosphere through the movie, adding a few eerie moments within the confines of the script. Honestly, there was a lot going on, almost too much. Some of the effects were intriguing and really worked but it was just a touch too predictable and unfortunately, there were a lot of holes in the layered story that detracted from  the overall feel. In the end, it was an entertaining flick. Sure, it is not the best of its kind, but there is something here to enjoy. Not to mention it was nice seeing Pittsburgh play a role in another horror type flick.
