It was another long day at Universal Studios, today at the
Islands of Adventure. I will say that the Harry Potter and the Forbidden
Journey may be one of the best rides I have seen-absolutely amazing. The same
cannot be said for the next film up for review, 2014s The Mirror.
Plot/ Three roommates purchase the supposedly haunted
antique on eBay and set up round the clock cameras in the hopes of capturing
evidence of something going bump in the night.
This one was definitely nothing special. In fact, it may be
one of the worst found footage flicks I have seen in some time. Sure, the
acting was not too bad (actually, it may have been the best part of the movie),
but that was not enough to save this film from an overall lack of excitement or
atmosphere. The effects were minimal, the storyline was thin, and there was
nothing that kept my attention. In the end, although I am a huge supporter of
low budget cinema, this one really does nothing for me. Yes, there was some
potential, but it never comes close to reaching it. Stay away!
