Shadow People (2013)

As a researcher in the paranormal, one topic seems to be a lightning rod of controversy, Shadow People. What are the mysterious shadows that show up in the night? Are they just nightmares? Are they demons? Are they spirits? Or are they just figments of our imaginations? No one really knows for sure. That is why when I saw the 2013 movie Shadow People at Family Video, I had to grab it.

Plot/ A radio talk show host unravels a conspiracy about encounters with mysterious beings known as The Shadow People and their role in the unexplained deaths of several hundred victims in the 1980s.

It is very rare for me to hit a home run on an impulse rental when it comes to horror. Usually, I grab something and it never comes close to what I had in mind when I picked it up. That was not the case here, as Shadow People exceeded my low expectations. Much like what The Fourth Kind should have been, this movie does a great job creating a real atmosphere while mixing in true accounts. The acting was solid, storyline and scripting excellent, and the cinematography provided a few eerie moments. Yes, at PG 13 there was no gore or violence,  it was a touch predictable and it did have some slow parts, but those are just minor flaws. In the end, this was an enjoyable watch and one that had the daughters looking over their shoulders.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)

I am not a fan of classic movie remakes. The Friday the 13th remake was miserable and the Nightmare on Elm Street remake not much better. That being said, there is one classic horror flick that that was remade that was actually extremely entertaining, the 2003 reboot of the classic Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Plot/ After picking up a traumatized young hitchhiker, five friends find themselves stalked and hunted by a deformed chainsaw-wielding killer and his family of equally psychopathic killers.

For the longest time, I held out watching this. The original movie is a classic and should not have been touched. To me, watching classic flicks get a reboot shows that Hollywood is afraid to step outside the box and create something new; reboots honestly frustrate me. When I finally watched this one I came away impressed, as this one was a lot better than the rest of classic reboots that they have churned out in recent years. The updated Leatherface was awesome and extremely imposing on the screen. The acting and cast were solid, the storyline interesting and even the additions worked well. More importantly, the cinematography created a great atmosphere that permeated throughout. In the end, this revision of the was entertaining and well worth watching. I know it has been out some time, but if you have not seen it, check it out!

6 Souls (2010)

Yesterday, I was still playing catch-up from my horror-filled afternoon on Saturday. While I am still not done with that material, I decided to watch and review one other movie before I get back to that. Last night, I sat down and watched 6 Souls (AKA Shelter) from 2010.

Plot/ A female forensic psychiatrist discovers that all of one of her patient's multiple personalities are murder victims. She will have to find out what's happening before her time is finished.

Originally filmed for a 2010 release as the movie Shelter, this is an interesting little flick. Yes, it is a bit disjointed as it starts out as a supernatural thriller and then cascades into an almost Voodoo themed affair. The acting is solid and does a great job building some atmosphere through the movie, adding a few eerie moments within the confines of the script. Honestly, there was a lot going on, almost too much. Some of the effects were intriguing and really worked but it was just a touch too predictable and unfortunately, there were a lot of holes in the layered story that detracted from  the overall feel. In the end, it was an entertaining flick. Sure, it is not the best of its kind, but there is something here to enjoy. Not to mention it was nice seeing Pittsburgh play a role in another horror type flick.

6 Degrees of Hell (2012)

Yesterday was movie day, in all; I think I watched six horror or Sci-Fi flicks. The day started with The Philadelphia Experiment and ended with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake). In between, there was religion (Stigmata), H.P. Lovecraft (Cool Air), creature features (The Bay) and one last flick, 6 Degrees of Hell.

Plot/ Six individuals are caught up in a supernatural perfect storm, as an evil lays claim to one of them while threatening to tear apart the soul of a small Pennsylvania town.

I had seen this one at the store for some time, but decided to pass. Finally, I grabbed it and I am glad I did. It was honestly not what I was expecting, and was surprised what little role Corey Feldman had. While that did not do anything with the film, I felt that the way it was packaged could have an impact on potential viewers who may not like his work. For me, I do not really watch movies because of the actors, so it was not an issue. The storyline in the movie is solid, with a slowly building intertwined plot that is actually rather interesting. Of course, at times, it does feel like there is too much going on within these layers and that does add some unneeded confusion. The acting is decent, the direction good and the make up and effects really work. There were some decisions with cinematography and editing that came across as amateurish, but that could have been my copy of the DVD. In the end, this may not be a perfect movie, but it was an entertaining indie flick that is a lot better than some of its competition.

Stigmata (1999)

After watching a few different horror and Sci-Fi movies while the rest of the family was watching an Illuminati ceremony at the Taylor Swift concert, I decided my night would not be complete without something with religious overtones. My selection for the evening was the 1999 entry Stigmata.

Plot/ A priest from the Vatican is sent to Sao Paulo, Brazil to investigate the appearance of the face of the Virgin Mary on the side of a building. While there, he hears of a statue of the Virgin Mary bleeding tears in a small town outside of the city. Meanwhile, a young woman in the U.S. begins to show signs of stigmata, the wounds of Christ.

I have always enjoyed this movie and thought that the layered storyline echoes something many people believe, the organized church is in some ways out of control. While some may see this as an attempt to be anti-religious, but it is not, it is anti-church politics. There is no secret that the Vatican Vaults hold many scrolls and writings that could influence the way people view religion as a whole, and it is not out of the realm of possibility that a story like this could in some way exist. The cast was solid and the acting was perfect for the scripting, the effects were outstanding and the cinematography was top notch. Yes, there were some head scratching moments, but overall, this is an entertaining and thought provoking movie and one that must be seen.

H.P. Lovecraft's Cool Air (2006)

As my afternoon of freedom turns to evening, it was time to watch something closer to my norm. With that in mind, earlier I grabbed something from horror master H.P. Lovecraft. My selection for the evening was the 2006 interpretation of Cool Air.

Plot/ Charlie Baxter, a struggling screenwriter, is searching for accommodation in a rundown mansion somewhere in the isolated mountains above Malibu. An expressionless and creatively bankrupt young man who rewrites exploitation sci-fi / horror scripts for a living, he takes a room in the mansion and learns of the mysterious doctor residing in the room above his own who dabbles in strange experiments.

As a fan of Lovecraft, I am usually frustrated by the over-the-top renditions of his works, which often struggle to find their place on the screen. With this one, I am glad it was not the case. This low-budget entry was different, and modernized, character driven rendition that allowed the story to unfold in a heavy manner. The acting was solid, scripting worked and the minimal use of effects brought this one together. Of course, there were some moments when the lower budget crept into view, but those moments were minimal. In the end, this was an entertaining adaption and one that is a solid watch if you enjoy character / story driven works and are not out for gore.

The Philadelphia Experiment (2012)

With the rest of the family our taking in the Illuminati Princess Taylor Swift at Heinz Field, I decided to make it a movie afternoon. Although, I did pick up a variety of horror and Sci-Fi flicks, I decided to take on the 2012 reboot of the classic The Philadelphia Experiment.

Plot/ A secret government research project tries reviving the World War II project the Philadelphia Experiment, which was an attempt to create a cloaking device to render warships invisible. When the experiment succeeds, it brings back the original ship (the Eldridge) that disappeared during the first test in 1943 - which brings death and destruction to the 21st century. It's up to the sole survivor of the first experiment and his granddaughter to stop it

As a fan of the original Philadelphia Experiment movie, and a researcher into the possible realities of the story, I was interested to see what the SyFy Channel came up with in their reboot. While they came up with was an interesting, albeit over-the-top approach that really worked. Yes, it was not perfect having a shaky script, a incoherent storyline and some poor CGI, but that was expected. It was nice to see the use Michael Pare from the original movie take part in this one, while it is very different from that effort it was still awesome. Overall, the acting was decent and the use of cheesy CGI was kept to a minimum. Is this one perfect, no way, but it was one of the better efforts to come from a made for SyFy original. If you have 90 minutes and need something mindless, this one is for you.

Fangoria Presents: Entity (2012)

Earlier today, I decided to head to the Family Video to pick up some movies for the weekend. Upon my departure, I was given a mandate to focus on supernatural horror, as the life-like horror I have picked up recently has struck a nerve in the house. While walking around, I stumbled upon a couple interesting flicks, one being Entity from Fangoria Presents.

Plot/ In 1998, thirty four unidentified bodies were found in shallow graves in a remote Siberian forest. After subsequent investigations, no official explanation by the Russian authorities was ever offered about the circumstances of the deaths. The case was closed. In 2010, a small TV crew set out for the Siberian forest Nothing was heard from them again.

After the opening sequence, I expect a lot more. Now, do not take that wrong, this is not a terrible flick, I had just wanted more. While this is not totally a found-footage flick, it does have those elements at times, and they are actually used in the right manner. This is an interesting story, and one that seemed a lot more layered than some films in the same vein. The acting was solid, the scenery and scripting worked and the cinematography was well done. Unfortunately, the audio quality of the copy I watched was very sub par, which made it difficult to hear at times, there are some typical stereotypes in play, and the movie lacked an abundance of scares. In the end, this will be a polarizing flick for many. Yes, this movie may lack gore and over the top violence, but it is an interesting take on a psychic driven supernatural flick and one that is worth watching.

Unused Script for Operation Paul Revere

Earlier in 2013, Alex Jones ran a short film competition for Operation Paul Revere, a contest that I want to enter. Unfortunately, due to scheduling and weather, I did not have a chance to truly pull everything together in a manner that would have worked. As I sat last night hearing patriotic music play over fireworks, I thought back on the script I had written and how, even though I did not complete filming, the message must get out. Here is the script for that entry, any comments and feedback would be awesome!

Script - Operation Paul Revere

Setting: Open field with rustic revival tent in the background. Pastor is at the entrance not far from a worn wooden sign reading Constitution Revival and an American flag. He his talking with his three daughters as people start walking up.

1775. CAMERA PANS PAST THE REVIVAL TENT, THE REVEREND AND DAUGHTERS TO AN OPEN FIELD WHERE A COUPLE IS WALKING TOWARD THEM ABOUT 50 FEET AWAY AND A HORDE OF SHEEPLE ZOMBIES ARE FOLLOWING IN A DISTANCE.

TIGHT TWO SHOT ON COUPLE WALKING HAND AN ARM.

REV: (TO DAUGHTERS) we should start getting ready for the service; it appears we will have a chance to spread the good word or our forefathers.

DAUGHTER 1: Yeah, it has been a while father. I can see the blind followers coming this way.

REV: Yes my dear, if we can turn just one with the sounds of liberty, we can win this battle.

PAN BACK AS THE COUPLE APPROACH THE REVEREND AND FOCUS ON THE GROUP AS THE PREPARE TO ENTER THE TENT.

REV: (TIPS HIS HAT) Good afternoon Ma’am, Sir, please have a seat anywhere inside, our constitutional revival will begin shortly.

CAMERA FOLLOWS THE COUPLE AS THEY ENTER THE TENT AND MOVE TOWARD THE FRONT. ONCE SEATED, THE CAMERA PANS BACK TOWARD THE HORDE OF SHEEPLE. AS THEY CREEP TOWARD TENT, THE MOANING SOUNDS OF “OBAAAAMMMMMA” ARE HEARD.

DAUGHTER 2: Father, what are they so blind to the darkness that has over taken our society?

REV: Do not fault them for their deeds and lack of understanding. The deceivers have many years of practice selling their socialist lies to the poor, to the under informed. They are evil in their tactics, demonizing families, hard work, and success, while appealing to ever growing lethargic portion of society with their vile handouts, money, and phones.

DAUGHTERS: (LOOKING AT THE REVEREND) We will head up front Father.

CAMERA FOLLOWS THE DAUGHTERS PAST THE COUPLE, TO THREE CHAIRS SET UP FACING THE AUDIENCE NEAR THE SANCTUARY. IN THE BACKGROUND, THE REVEREND GREETS THE SHEEPLE AND DIRECTS THEM TO THE BACK OF THE TENT.

SHEEPLE: OBAAAAMMMMMA, OBAAAAMMMMMA (Random- throughout the service)

REV: Welcome to our revival, if you listen with an open heart and mind, you too may be saved by the words of our constitution.

CAMERA STAYS FOCUSED ON THE SANCTUARY AS THE REVEREND PROCEEDS IN THAT DIRECTION.

End Scene 1775

Inside the revival tent – The Reverend is behind a wooden podium with a United States flag hanging in the background. A small table is in the center of the sanctuary with a cross and a picture of the Constitution on it. The daughters sit facing crowd on the opposite side of the sanctuary. The couple sits in the front row holding their Constitutional Bibles with multiple empty rows behind them with books spread over. The horde of sheeple (7-10) stand toward the back of the tent.

1776/ TWO CAMERA VIEWS ONE FACING REVEREND AND THE SANCTUARY – FULL SHOT TO ALLOW MOVEMENT – ONE FACING FROM SANCTUARY TOWARD COUPLE WITH SHEEPLE IN BACKGROUND (MOVABLE TO FOCUS IN AND OUT ON SHEEPLE, COUPLE AND THEIR BOOKS)

REV: All Rise – Let us start with a rendition on of the Pledge of Allegiance.

ALL:  (Page 2 of Book)  I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. (Sheeple continue the OBBBAAAAMA moans).

REV: (PREACHING) - Why do I start with the pledge? (PAUSE) I start with the pledge because of the great words that often are forgotten and misunderstood by the minions. Those words, FOR THE REPUBLIC, are extremely important, as many have lost sight to the fact that the United States are indeed a republic and not a democracy or authoritarian society as being portrayed today. In fact, our ancestors warned of these days of betrayal

DAUGHTER 1: (Page 3 of book) As James Madison said in the Federalist Papers "Hence it is that democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and in general have been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths... A republic, by which I mean a government in which a scheme of representation takes place, opens a different prospect and promises the cure for which we are seeking."

We are a republic, not a democracy; as we and our children have been told. In this rise of evil and tyranny, our voices have been absorbed by the greed of the globalist corporate agenda. By the every growing scourge that is the United Nations with their illegal cries for Carbon Taxes for the invisible global warming, for the seizure of property under Agenda 21 – and the every growing decimation of our inherent rights of citizens bestowed upon us at birth by the Constitution.

CAMERA ONE FOCUSES ON REVEREND AS HE PACES BEFORE THE CROWD GATHERING THOUGHTS – ANGLE PANS BACK OUT AFTER A FEW SECONDS.

(Page 5 -6) REV: Many of our problems started under the guise of BUSH the 1st, a true wolf in sheeps clothing. From his roots with his father Prescott, who stood by Hitler and following WWII founded the CIA, Bush Sr, was the torch bearer of the New World Order. It was his job to start paving the way for the globalist agenda to take heart in America. How was this done? It was done by clouding our minds with harmful propaganda, poisoning us and our children with eugenics. It was done by placing chemicals in our drinking water such as fluoride, by saturating the air with chemicals to spread disease. Using HAARP to control the weather, to cause droughts- who contracted the building of HAARP? That is right, George HW Bush.

You do not have to believe me; you can see the documents before you in the good book. You can also listen to the words of one of the many test subjects. This brave soul gave his life to the cause and unfortunately, he could not be saved. However, his words resonated within me, and woke me up to start along this path of light. (gazing back toward sheeple) That is right I too was lost. I was once like you – blind to the atrocities of our government.

MEDIUM CLOSE SHOT OF ONE OF THE SHEEPLE GOING SILENT AND PEERING INTO THE SANCTUARY WITH LIFE – THEY SLOWLY WALK TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE TENT, PICK UP A BOOK, AND SIT DOWN IN A ROW.

Welcome my child. This soldier may have given his life, but his words will live forever:  (Page 7)

DAUGHTER 2:

11:00
Another body falls
This strange infection continues to grow
Surrounding our every move
Look, in the corner
Such a ghastly sight
Those red eyes filled with sorrow
That festering decay of the green death
His body ravaged
How can he exist?
Who would want to live that way?
Stealthily, I maintain my distance
I will not fall prey to this vile demon
The rot will not overtake me

Turning the corner I see even more victims
Carousing throughout the corridor
The infestation searching for hosts like zombies for brains
Only a few of us remain strong on this funeral barge
Defying the poisonous torture
How much longer can we survive on this floating prison?
Our friends destroyed
Our search for the cure must continue
11:30
Another man falls
No one is safe
Our lives ruined
All hope lost!

REV: All Hope Lost!  I am sure many feel that way after the rise of the Police State, first brought forth by the Unconstitutional Patriot Act and Department of Homeland Security, the works and deeds of that globalist pawn George Bush the 2nd.  It was he and his regime that are responsible for bringing down the towers. Sure, they may not have pulled the trigger, but it was their people that allowed and in fact, trained these terrorists. The connections are everywhere. The CIA created al Qaeda, paid al Qaeda, condemned al Qaeda and now supports them in Syria. Again, the documents sit before you in your good book. All rise and pay homage to the flag of our great nation with the first two verses of America the Beautiful.

CAMERA TWO PANS CROWD DURING THE SINGING OF AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL. (Sheeple continue the OBBBAAAAMA moans).

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!

America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

DURING THE SINGING TWO OF THE SHEEPLE WAKE UP AND COME FORWARD TO JOIN THE OTHER AWAKE MEMBERS OF THE AUDIENCE.

REV: Please be seated. Welcome to the two newest parishioners, there transformation to being one of us informed citizens is truly a blessing. Their transformation reminds me of the greater good we all must accomplish. You see, I alone cannot defeat these globalists and push back to the point where we will be safe from their tyranny. We must stand together and fight this information war, in this revolution for the mind. We must stand up, speak out and defend our great nation for our kids, for our grandchildren.

The script to defeat them lay before us in the history of their deeds. History does repeat itself and we can defeat the tyranny by choosing the path prepared by generations before us, in their battles with the previous generations of evil.

Hitler led Germany down the same path, created a false flag to seize overall power. While Bush 2 did not create a dictatorship, he prepared the infrastructure to allow Monarch/President Obama to increase the Police State, to infringe and trample on even more of the Constitution. I ask you, how many parts of the Bill of Rights do we truly have left? We should have them all, as they are limitations serve to protect the natural rights of liberty and property. They guarantee a number of personal freedoms, limit the government's power in judicial and other proceedings, and reserve some powers to the states and the public

- Freedom of religion, speech and to protest? NO – The anti-occupy laws / Obamacare / and now NDAA have taken those.

- Right to bare arms? Barely – Look at the federal and state regulations infringing on these rights.

- Protection from the housing of troops? NO

- Protection from unreasonable search and seizure? NO – Department of Homeland Security, TSA, checkpoints, do I need to say more.

- Right to due process? No – The Department of Justice allows for the unilateral attack of Americans by drones with no arrest, judge, jury – the president becomes executioner.

I could go on and on about the infringement of our rights. The transgressions truly started by the globalists behind Bush 1 – through Clinton, to Bush 2 and now Obama have been a systematic attack on our way of life and our rights.

DAUGHTER 3:  A quote from Thomas Jefferson, “A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.”

Fortunately, for us, the globalist balls of puss overstepped in their haste to destroy us. These saw an opening after the tragedy at Sandy Hook and went for broke believing that the populace was sufficiently brain dead like those in the back of the tent. They were wrong, some of us were awake and started to verbally attack the system. We declared INFO WAR on them and started waking people up with their own documents, their own words. We hit them with their own techniques, their own infrastructure, to change the momentum in our favor.

DURING THE REVERENDS TALK TWO MORE OF THE SHEEPLE WAKE UP AND COME FORWARD TO JOIN THE OTHER AWAKE MEMBERS OF THE AUDIENCE.

Before we end today, I must remind you that this battle is far from over. We must unite as one and speak loudly to wake up those who cannot think for themselves. Yes, this will be dangerous- as we will face the implements of the Police State, the illegal spying being used against us by the NSA, the NDAA, and sites such as facebook, google, and twitter and even more diabolical the power of the globalist elite and their puppet government who look for world domination.

We must fight this fight to win, for if we lose this INFO War and fail to wake our brothers and sisters, we will have nothing but life within the 250 square foot rooms held within the forced slave camps of Agenda 21. Yes, this would be a life much worse than Orwell’s’ 1984. Yes, we can win, for the answer to Agenda 21, to 1984 is 1776.

DURING THE REVERENDS TALK THE REMAINING SHEEPLE TURN AND DEPART THE TENT AND HEAD TOWARD THE WILDERNESS.

After the service, inside the good book, you will find a copy of the Citizens Rule Book printed by fellow patriot Alex Jones. Take it with you, speak out and wake up the sheep and the zombies. We are the last hope for humanity. Before we close with the National Anthem, it is a forgotten verse from the Civil War that one should hear as a reminder of the battles fought past generations.

When our land is illumined with liberty's smile,
If a foe from within strikes a blow at her glory,
Down, down with the traitor that tries to defile
The flag of the stars, and the page of her story!
By the millions unchained,
Who their birthright have gained
We will keep her bright blazon forever unstained;
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave,
While the land of the free is the home of the brave.

Arise, so to pay respect to old glory one last time today with the Star Spangled Banner.

O say can you see by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

THE CROWD AND THE REVEREND TURN TO WALK OUT OF THE TENT - END CREDITS ROLL.

V (1983)

After some horror, action and thrillers over the weekend, I decided to find something different to watch. In my search, it was an awesome surprise to run across something from my youth. In fact, it was one of the first miniseries that I can remember watching; the alien invasion flick V from 1983.

Plot/ When aliens come to Earth to ask for our help, a few suspicious humans discover their horrific true intentions and prepare to resist.

Kicking back last night, it was a blast watching the original two-part miniseries V commercial free. While the special effects and some of the dialogue was dated, it became even clearer that the miniseries was ahead of its time. Sure, no giant spaceships have become known over major cities, but, the undertone of the storyline is extremely relevant in today’s tyrannical society. Of course, many believe that V was just a Sci-Fi take on the Holocaust, which is understandable with some of the symbolism, to me; I saw Agenda 21 and the “sustainability” rhetoric that is being pushed by the United Nations and the globalist backers. The overall feel of the movie is tremendous, the acting solid and the storyline really worked (maybe had they not tried to modernize it, the reboot would have worked). More importantly, it kept you entertained throughout and left you wanting more. With the rise of tyranny around every corner and the rise of informational resistance is growing, and like 1984, V could be a great primer in defeating the global takeover.

Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013)

After spending some time out and about, it was nice to be able to watch some movies late last week before starting vacation. Of course, it would have been better if I would have grabbed something that was more worth my while. My review for the evening is the disappointing Texas Chainsaw 3D.

Plot/ A young woman travels to Texas to collect an inheritance; little does she know that an encounter with a chainsaw-wielding killer is part of the reward.

I really did not expect much from this one, as the Texas Chainsaw train left the station long ago. Watching the original as a teen in the late 1970s / early 1980s, it holds a special place in my heart. Of course, that was my favorite part of this one, as the opening sequence drew me in. Unfortunately, it seemed to spiral down from there. The acting was so-so, the cgi/3d effects seemed forced and the storyline was off. More importantly, it lacked atmosphere and actually came across with more comedic moments than scares. In the end, this was one I could have done without as it did nothing but appear to take the name of a classic and drag it further down the abyss. Stay away and watch the original instead.

The Purge (2013)

One of the great things about a drive-in (besides the cost) is the fact that you can see two movies, usually themed together. That was the case with the double feature that I watched last night. While not completely the same, the governmental propagandist overtones with in these two made them interesting bedfellows. First it was White House Down, and then the United Nations Agenda 21 infused The Purge.

Plot/ A family is held hostage for harboring the target of a murderous syndicate during the Purge, a 12-hour period in which all crime is legalized.

I had heard some things about this and the Agenda 21 overtones contained, and I will admit, those were definitely there. If you do not know anything about the United Nations Agenda 21, you better look it up and understand why things are happening the way they are. This movie was an interesting idea and had a somewhat original plot; unfortunately, it did not take that potential and run with it. The acting was so-so, the ending anticlimactic, the scripting forced, and with such a shot run time, there was a lot left undeveloped.  The worst part was the fact that there was absolutely no atmosphere, something that could have been easy to accomplish with the intriguing story. Honestly, this movie could have been a tremendous movie and in the end, came off forced and rather bland. In the end, this movie was not terrible, but did not do anything that would make it memorable in any way. Wait for it to come out on DVD and make sure you research Agenda 21 before you watch it.

White House Down (2013)

As anyone who has followed my blog may realize, I do not do many flicks that are in theatres. Too often, the hype that has been built can influence an opinion. I like to wait until I forgot about something and see it then. Last night, we decided to hit the drive-in for the evening, and I got to see two flicks that interested me for different reasons; the first movie up for review from the trip, White House Down from 2013.

Plot/ While on a tour of the White House with his young daughter, a Capitol policeman springs into action to save his child and protect the president from a heavily armed group of paramilitary invaders.

Action flicks are not normally my cup of tea, but when at the drive-in, they are always a solid bet. This flick was not great but it was not terrible either. It was a typical over-the-top action flick full of implausible and impossible details. With that, it also had the somewhat disjointed plot and feel to it, almost like the multiple story lines were so far apart that they could not be brought together smoothly. The acting was OK, and none of it was believable, but it was entertaining. To me, the biggest letdown (besides the CGI and lack of any character development) was what I expected when we pulled in, the idea that right-wing extremist sponsored by a right-wing element of the military industrial complex would be to blame. Yes, the same NDAA driven propaganda that has become the calling card for training in the DHS and DOJ in recent years.  In the end, this is an entertaining action flick that makes little big picture sense, and a movie perfect for a drive-in or living room once it hits DVD.
