Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001)

After watching Twin Peaks yesterday, I needed something that could help my mind come back to reality, so I decided on this one. Knowing that Godzilla movies are always fun and mindless, what could go wrong with the 2001 entry Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack?

Plot/ Three ancient guardian beasts awaken to protect Japan against Godzilla.

I had seen this on Shudder for some time, but honestly, the length of the titles scared me away. I know that may sound stupid, but it’s true. Now that I have watched it, I can see that I made a huge mistake in waiting. This was one of the darkest and most entertaining Godzilla films I have watched and it made me want to see more. While there are some early CGI issues and such, for the most part, the effects work rather well, creating one of the best monster flicks I have seen. Incredibly, although modernized, the film was able to maintain some of the charms that made the classic Godzilla films so much fun. Less schlock and an entertaining story featuring a dreadful Godzilla out to destroy humanity, this had a lot to like with some solid cinematography, quality dubbing, and a soundtrack that did a perfect job at setting the stage for the action. Yes, some of the creatures did seem off from their original characterizations with the size a ferocity and some of the story felt cliché and predictable, but those were easily overlooked. In the end, if you are a fan of the classic Godzilla flicks and like me, you grew up with them on the Saturday afternoon creature features give this one a shot. This was an entertaining and fun flick that worked perfectly in helping me pass some time in the afternoon.

Jaws (1975)

After taking yesterday off to go watch West Virginia defeat Youngstown State, I decided that it was time to get some movies in this afternoon. While I did watch a variety of material, I figured I should change things up a bit and review a classic. After some internal debate, I decided it was time to look at the timeless 1975 entry Jaws.

Plot/ When a gigantic great white shark begins to menace the small island community of Amity, a police chief, a marine scientist and a grizzled fisherman set out to stop it.

I tend to stay away from classics here on The Ringmaster’s Realm, but today, I decided to revisit a classic. I know everyone has heard of Jaws, and really there is nothing more I can say that hasn’t already been said or written somewhere. However, this is a movie that clearly stands the test of time and has held up quite well over the past few decades. Based on the book by Peter Benchley (who also gave me my introduction to the Bermuda Triangle), the storyline and vision that Steven Spielberg created is still amazing. The cast is masterful, with the characters all endearing themselves into every scene, the soundtrack is perfect, the atmosphere heavy, and the scripting and cinematography are examples that should be used in every film class. Hell, I still don’t like swimming in the ocean (although, there is some of my Naval career that influences that as well). Yes, the shark itself has some issues and there are some points that make you scratch your head, but those are but minor in the grand scheme. In the end, Jaws is a movie that helped shape not only a genre but also a generation (and amazingly it was done with a PG rating). If you have not seen this original classic, you are wrong. Watch it now!

Sphere (1998)

As I continue to push through this transmedia project that is a modern adaption of the H.P. Lovecraft classic Haunter of the Dark, I find myself spending more time on it than I ever imagined I would. In doing so, I have been spending time a lot of time with a variety of movies on as background inspiration. The last flick I watched was the 1998 Sci-Fi/Mystery/Thriller Sphere.

Plot/ 1000 feet below the ocean, navy divers discover an object half-a-mile long. A crack team of scientists is deployed to the site in Deep-sea Habitats. What they find boggles the mind as they discover a perfect metal sphere. What is the secret behind the sphere? Will they survive the mysterious 'manifestations'? Who or what is creating these? They may never live to find out.

This was a difficult movie to review. I watched it again the other night after not seeing it for over a decade, and honestly, I found it better than I thought. As was the case the first time I watched it, this is really the tale of two different movies: a first and a second half. The beginning is awesome and touches on some intriguing topics and is entertaining. Unfortunately, with all the promise, the unlikable characters and uneven performances make it difficult to truly digest everything that they were trying to say within the movie. Personally, I liked it because it made me think, and presented some ideas that have always captivated me in a way that was both entertaining and challenging. Of course, this Sci-Fi thriller is not for everyone, but it is definitely worth watching.

Subconscious (2015)

As a former Navy Chief, I am drawn to Sci-Fi movies that involve the best service branch in the world. In fact, because I have moments where I miss the camaraderie and the duties, I often jump at a chance to pick these up when I see them. That was the case with my next review, 2015s Subconscious.

Plot/ An investigation into a retired WWII sub plunges a research team into a supernatural journey across the dark abyss of time - with history hanging in the balance.

This was an uneven film to review, and it actually went in a different direction than I imagined when I picked it up at Family Video. Yes, it is not a traditional WWII based Sci-Fi flick, which could turn some people off, it does have an interesting storyline that was unexpected. As a low budget flick, it does have it share of flaws; but, as is the case those are somewhat expected. In this one, the storyline was a touch unbelievable, but it worked, the setting was amazing, and it did have an interesting twist at the end. Of course, there were some uneven performances, the lighting was all over the place, and there were a ton of preposterous ideas being thrown around, but again, as a low budget flick, those flaws are to be expected. In the end, this is not a perfect movie and will have to find its niche audience, but it does have some entertaining moments. If you love the stuff from the SyFy Channel, you will likely enjoy it; give it a shot.

Bermuda Tentacles (2014)

I took a couple days away from the blog so I could focus on finishing my college math homework for the week, and I was miserable. To make up for that misery, I ran out to pick up some Captain America Underoos, to help rid my mind of the useless math that I have been suffering through (one week to go). I also got back to some movies, first up is the mindless SyFy Channel original from 2014, Bermuda Tentacles.

Plot/ After Air Force One goes down during a storm over the Bermuda Triangle, the United States Navy is dispatched to find the escape pod holding the President. A giant monster beneath the ocean awakens and attacks the fleet.

It has been a while since I have ventured into the realm of SyFy Channel originals, and now, after suffering through another tremendous effort, the clock will start again. Sure, Bermuda Tentacles is not the worse entry, but that is not saying much. This one had very little going for it, with a few solid performances and a crazy storyline, but even those positives are not enough to make it a blip on the RADAR. The cinematography is all over, the scripting is incoherent, and the CGI created some of the most laughable creatures in some time. In the end, this predictable and clichéd CGI driven SyFy original may not be the worst entry from their catalog, but it rates near the bottom. There are clearly better choices; stay away!

DeepStar Six (1989)

With last weeks, math homework in the rearview and a couple days until my next assignment is due, I decided to just kick back and relax. Of course, it does help that my crusader kicked Diablo’s ass last night and I am now headed to destroy the reaper of souls. With that extra time, I decided to go retro for a couple movies, starting with the 1989 deep-sea flick DeepStar Six.

Plot/ At the bottom of the ocean, the DeepStar Six has just discovered a new and deadly alien menace.

So, I have been in a retro mood this weekend and decided to give this one another shot after quite some time. Honestly, what I found surprised me, as the movie was actually a lot better than I remembered. The acting is solid, the storyline clichéd but interesting, and the mixture of story and action was pretty good. Sure, there were some characterization issues, the creature was absolutely horrid, and some of it felt dated, but it definitely held up better than some of the creature features from the past. In the end, this one is definitely worth revisiting if you have not seen it in some time; it is an entertaining and dark trip to the bottom of the sea that should be seen.

The Philadelphia Experiment (2012)

With the rest of the family our taking in the Illuminati Princess Taylor Swift at Heinz Field, I decided to make it a movie afternoon. Although, I did pick up a variety of horror and Sci-Fi flicks, I decided to take on the 2012 reboot of the classic The Philadelphia Experiment.

Plot/ A secret government research project tries reviving the World War II project the Philadelphia Experiment, which was an attempt to create a cloaking device to render warships invisible. When the experiment succeeds, it brings back the original ship (the Eldridge) that disappeared during the first test in 1943 - which brings death and destruction to the 21st century. It's up to the sole survivor of the first experiment and his granddaughter to stop it

As a fan of the original Philadelphia Experiment movie, and a researcher into the possible realities of the story, I was interested to see what the SyFy Channel came up with in their reboot. While they came up with was an interesting, albeit over-the-top approach that really worked. Yes, it was not perfect having a shaky script, a incoherent storyline and some poor CGI, but that was expected. It was nice to see the use Michael Pare from the original movie take part in this one, while it is very different from that effort it was still awesome. Overall, the acting was decent and the use of cheesy CGI was kept to a minimum. Is this one perfect, no way, but it was one of the better efforts to come from a made for SyFy original. If you have 90 minutes and need something mindless, this one is for you.

The Final Countdown (1980)

As I was sitting here tonight wondering what I wanted to watch, I decided to venture into Netflix to see what they had to offer. Last night, I watched 1984, a classic, and a film that I will review on New Years Eve. That book by George Orwell was ahead of its time, and the film, does a great job at portraying the dark nature of a New World Order scenario. My selection for the evening tonight was another interesting flick, and one, that could also be considered before its time.

Plot/ A modern aircraft carrier is thrown back in time to 1941 near Hawaii, just hours before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
Films in this particular vein of Sci-Fi and Fantasy are always interesting, and often pose realistic questions about reality, as we know it. Much like the truths behind the mysterious Philadelphia Experiment and subsequent movie, one has to at least think of the weird possibilities that exist in the universe. By all accounts, this is a great film from the era and stands up to time quite well. The acting is above the line, the effects are solid, and the way that actual history was integrated was outstanding. Could it have been better, absolutely, but that can be said about almost any flick out there. In the end, this is a awesome flick and one that, as mentioned, does a great job at exploring the possibilities of a time rift. If you like this genre, you must check out this flick!

Is HAARP Influencing the Storms in the Pacific Northwest

Over a month ago, I started to break down the disturbing trend that arose prior to Hurricane Sandy. In the days leading up to that catastrophic storm, HAARP sensors across the continental United States started to pick up shifting signal strengths, with the highest being centered in the crosshairs of the storm. Incredibly, as these signals rose, the track of the massive cyclone shifted toward them. It was like a giant tractor beam drawing in its prey.

Fast-forward a month, and astonishingly, on the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy making landfall, the Pacific Northwest is bracing for a shot from a powerful storm. What is even more amazing is that, just was in the case of Sandy, HAARP readings along the west coast are rising toward unprecedented levels. Ironically, these higher than normal readings started to rise over the weekend, just as a different storm was heading toward the coast, a storm that would deal this region widespread rainfall, snow and high winds.

HAARP Readings 28 November 2012

Today, as these readings increase, this storm is headed straight for Oregon and California, packing the potential to deliver extreme damage. The forecast calls for high winds, driving rains (up to 10 inches) and heavy snowfall (up to 20 inches). If this storm reaches these levels, it could be devastated as the streams, lakes and rivers are already at capacity after the storms from earlier in the week.

HAARP Readings 27 November 2012

With the impending storm on the horizon, I decided to look at the three other factors that we saw when breaking down HAARP earlier in the month; presidential decree, earthquakes and isolated disaster. To me, the results were not surprising, as again coincidental activities took place in similar regions as the HAARP levels started to hit the upper reading levels on Tuesday, 27 November 2012.

1.      High HAARP Readings were recorded centered over those areas in the path of the storm.
2.      A 4.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the Gaspe Peninsula, Quebec, Canada.
3.      A 4.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of Nicaragua.

While there has been no public release on Presidential policy made this week, one item that keeps popping up is the ongoing battle between some Senators and Susan Rice over her comments to the American population just days after the September 11 attack on the consulate in Benghazi, Libya.  In fact, what many thought would be a positive step on Tuesday, proved opposite. As the Senators left, the meeting more outraged at the fact that it appears that she, as a mouthpiece for President Obama, ignored the truths regarding the terrorist attack and perpetrated a clear cover-up of the incident to the American public for political gain. In fact, that truth would have proved that the al Qaeda network was alive and well, and operating at a level other that the Presidents’ campaign platform that al Qaeda was devastated and no longer a threat. Or it could be because something as simple as trending topics away from the vote on NDAA that is coming soon... Who knows?

Of course, there could be policies signed into law by Executive Order, and it may take a few days to catch up to, I will keep checking, just as I will continue to monitor this and other situations building across the United States and world.

Is HAARP Still Causing Destruction in the United States

Let me start today by saying that I hope that all of my family and friends stuck in the region ravaged by Superstorm Sandy are doing better and the recovery is moving forward. This was a true tragedy and one that will never be forgotten. As you may know, roughly three weeks ago, I noticed some strange variations of HAARP signals and their potential steering effects on Hurricane Sandy. While I had hoped that the signals were coincidence and the storm would have a mind of its own, I am truly starting to go a different direction. At this point, I wish the data was different, and that there was no way that something could control these storms and other effects, but recent events seem to back up my original hypothesis.

HAARP Readings Monday Around Time of Oil Spill

While the HAARP readings in that corridor remained and remain high, it was an event on Monday that again opened my eyes to the devastating outcomes that can be generated by the HAARP system. While many may not have heard about this event as it was quietly pushed aside by the election coverage, there was another oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of New Orleans. Yes, this wellhead blowout was nowhere near as severe as the BP Oil Spill that hit that region hard, it was still responsible for depositing an unspecified amount of oil along the Gulf Coast. Now, what makes this interesting is that the HAARP Status group recorded a shortwave HAARP burst of 6.1 centered in New Orleans, Louisiana just prior to the events. A strange occurrence considering that one of the abilities that the HAARP System is rumored to have is the ability to create minor earthquakes. Could this spill be related to the short burst? It is possible, until we know exactly what this Top Secret Facility is used for, one can only speculate.

 Current HAARP Readings

That moves us to today and the continuing trend of terrible weather plaguing the Northeast. As mentioned earlier, the HAARP readings remain extremely high along the coast, especially in the New York / New Jersey region. What is happening in that area right now, snowstorms, high winds and flooding as the already devastated is dealing with a Nor’easter. The scary thing about this unfortunate occurrence is that newly named Winter Storm Bree is forming in the exact manner and in the areas matching the HAARP signatures being recorded. Where else are these signals high, the West Coast in California and they have been rising throughout the week. Will something happen there? Only time will tell. Yes, there was a destructive earthquake off the coast of Guatemala in Central America today (7.4 scale), but there is not enough data to connect those dots. That leaves on major question, can this all be a coincidence? Possibly, but as the evidence mounts, it is starting to become hard to ignore.

Time is Running Out For President Obama to Answer Donald Trump and End the Masquerade

Having just returned home from a free viewing of the 1922 classic Nosferatu at the State Theatre, it is time to sit back and work on the blog. While Halloween is my favorite holiday, it is a masquerade of another sort that has caught my attention over the past year and one that I believe could be the biggest costume party ever experienced by United States citizens.

No, it will not be a ball if proven true, but it could be reality. This masquerade is the one that is being perpetrated by President Obama, and one that Donald Trump gone out on a limb to bring some light on the subject with his $5 million charity offer to the president to do what is right and release some information on his background.

Now, I do not consider myself a birther, as I actually served under Obama as the Commander-in-Chief over the last three years of service, as I retired last year after 21-years of service. Even though I could have stayed in the military, some ask why did I retire? The answer is simple, too many good young Sailors were being separated from service due to the extreme drawdown policies that were being enacted by the President, and I felt it was my job to stand aside and allow others to grow and experience what it meant to serve their country.

I loved the Navy, and I love my country, but it was an experience recently that made me start to question the transparent nature of the president. When my daughters dependant ID expired recently, I was told I needed her birth certificate to receive her ID. This was a hard rule, regardless of the fact she was on my DEERS certification or on my retirement DD214, I needed her birth certificate. When I heard that, I said, amazing! He can become president without it, but I cannot get her ID unless I have her birth certificate. This is absolutely amazing.

That is why when I heard about Mr. Trump’s offer, I was fascinated. I was fascinated by the idea of finally being able to learn something about the man who is butchering our military, and the man who left soldiers and Americans behind in Benghazi. Of course, within two hours of Mr. Trumps’ announcement, I knew that President Obama would not release the documents or even speak about the offer. The offer we know he saw because of his actions trumpeting YouTube after Benghazi and the inflammatory video story that was apparently created to cover-up another failure of the government. He was a big fan of that website, so much so that his entire cabinet mentioned it for two weeks.

Of course, you could ask, how did I know this? Think about it, he is theoretically the most powerful man in the world; he could have had something manufactured in that time and said, here you go. To me, this lack of immediate action spoke volumes about President Obama. If a man holds onto documents and his past like this, it makes one think that he has something to hide. Sure, a quick search of the internet will show a variety of things. There are questions about his citizenship, his political views, his upbringing, his religious ideologies, and more. With all of that out there, one would think that the man, or his family, would want the truth out there. That is, unless there is something to hide.

The crazy thing is, the items that Mr. Trump asked for are relatively minor in the grand scheme, his college applications and records, and his passport documents. All of these are items that every president or candidate have released in the past. More importantly, they are a lot of the same items you the citizen will be asked for when applying for a job, or unemployment, or anything. The ladder is a fact that should make everyone out there stand up and say wait, why didn’t the President do this before he took office, just as I did with my daughters ID card.

As yesterday passed and the announcement was made that Mr. Trump extended the deadline by 18-hours, I had to laugh. I was with five friends when this came out, including one person who converted from an Obama supporter due to the lack of transparency on his background once it was explained in depth. Ironically, he too was formerly in the military and did not recognize the invisible history of the Commander-in-Chief.

As the six of us talked, we discussed what, if anything Mr. Trump had that could possibly dispel a manufactured document if one was so provided. Could it be transcripts with poor grades, different places of birth on the different applications, what was it? Or was it nothing at all, and like many he just wants to see the truth or a fabricated version of the truth? It does not matter, we will see nothing, we never were.

The extension means little, as Mr. Obama was never going to take Mr. Trump up on his offer. I knew it, my friends knew it, and I believe Mr. Trump knew it, when he made the offer. President Obama was not going to respond to his offer. In fact, the only thing the delay may have done is delay the heckling that Mr. Trump will receive from the Kool Aid drinking blind supporters of Obama, which inevitably will happen. As always, they will make excuses like he was busy campaigning, Hurricane Sandy or the altitude got to him.

Of course, while we all want this transparency to end, for a man who parades around for photo ops when it is convenient, like when the Navy Seals got Osama Bin Laden, or when Hurricane Sandy wrecked havoc on America, he seems to disappear when the pressure is directly on him. That is what happened with Benghazi, and that is what happened with this $5 million offer. The pressure was placed solely upon his shoulders, and he cannot react. That’s right, Candy Crowley will not bust through the door and save the day like she did during the debate and at some point the president will have to answer for his actions or inactions.

If you are reading this, think about it, why is the president hiding his past, what is he afraid of? As I said earlier in this post, these are items other presidents, candidates and citizens have produced for items much smaller than the position of leader of the free world. All items that the government has no problem demanding when applying for benefits. Honestly think about it, as was stated in the video, this was a challenge the president could not refuse, yet, he did, and he is a man that has more at stake than anyone else, re-election. Something that is especially true in an election that could come down to a handful of votes in any one of the few swing states.

At this point, the only frustrating thing is I have to wait until noon for the Mr. Trump announcement and yet another disappointment from the Commander-in-Chief.

Is HAARP Shifting the Track of Hurricane Sandy?

In 2009, former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura questioned whether the government is using HAARP to manipulate the weather or to bombard people with mind-controlling radio waves on his show Conspiracy Theory. In fact, during his research, he and his team requested a tour of the facility, but were turned away. Why?  Fast forward three years, and the answer may be in front of us.
HAARP has been a controversial subject and a conspiracy theorists dream, as the project has been shrouded in secrecy for years.  If you are not into conspiracies, you may wondering about what HAARP is.  According to documentation , it is the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program, an ionospheric research program jointly funded by the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Navy, the University of Alaska, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).  According to theorists, it sits at the heart of many natural disasters.
That is where this week comes in, especially after monitoring the change in national HAARP readings and the changing track of Hurricane Sandy, which is heading toward the East Coast of the United States. While some people may look upon it as a stretch, but the coincidence of the two cannot be readily discounted. Look for yourself.
HAARP Map - Wednesday Morning

Hurricane Sandy Track - Wednesday
Notice on the two, the HAARP readings along the Northern East Coast and Northeast were around seven. Sure they were high, but not to an extreme. Now look at the changes recorded today.
HAARP Map - Thursday Afternoon

Hurricane Sandy Track - Thursday Afternoon

In breaking those two map / track projections the inpact of the HAARP signatures cannot be ignored. If you would like to check these changes yourself, go to the HAARP Status website, which monitors the daily HAARP signals in real time.
Built by BAE Advanced Technologies (BAEAT), its purpose is to analyze the ionosphere and investigate the potential for developing ionospheric enhancement technology for radio communications and surveillance. The HAARP program operates a major sub-arctic facility, named the HAARP Research Station, on an Air Force–owned site near Gakona, Alaska.
The most prominent instrument at the HAARP Station is the Ionospheric Research Instrument (IRI), a high-power radio frequency transmitter facility operating in the high frequency (HF) band. The IRI is used to temporarily excite a limited area of the ionosphere. Other instruments, such as a VHF and a UHF RADAR, a Fluxgate Magnetometer, a Digisonde, and an Induction Magnetometer, are used to study the physical processes that occur in the excited region.
According to reports, construction on the facility began in 1993, although rumors of HAARP experimentation go back decades before. If this is a weapon that has these abilities, no one man or government should be in control. If it is a weapon, we should all be scared.
