There are always movies that come with great hype that cannot
live up to the expectations that come with them. The same can be said about book
to movie adaptations that can never translate to the screen. My next selection
falls into that category, yet, possibly not because of the normal flaws. My
next selection was the over-hyped World War Z.
Plot/ United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world
in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and
governments, and threatening to destroy humanity itself.
I held out a long time before I sat down and watched this
because I had a gut feeling of what was in store and I was right. Stripped of
the quality of the original book, this movie looked more like a big budget
expose of the United Nations eugenics based Agenda 21 program than an attempt
to recreate what made the book a bestseller. Yes, there was action and some of
the scenes took the rage-virus zombies to an extreme, but that was about it for
the positives. The storyline was laughable, the CGI terrible, make-up effects
unbelievably bad, poor characterization, and the acting so-so. It is had to imagine why this went so
far over budget and produced one of the worst zombie movies of all time. The
best part of this movie may have been the PG-13 rating, which allowed my entire
family to view it and explain to them the dangers of eugenics and Agenda 21. Of
course, those two entities are the entire reason for this debacle, using cinema
to influence the masses on a real agenda by taking advantage of a hot cinematic
topic. In the end, everyone should read up on Agenda 21 and the United Nations,
if you do that, you would understand why this has nothing to do with the book
and why they needed the title. There are much better zombie flicks out there,
stay away!
