Trips to Family Video can be fun. Unfortunately, they can
also pull you into some movies that should not be watched. One such movie is
the 2016 low budget entry OUIJA 3: The Charlie Charlie Challenge (AKA Charlie
Charlie).
Plot/ An eccentric haunted house owner invites a group of
hapless teens to play the terrifying game known as Charlie Charlie, overnight
in the many attractions his house has to offer. While the game is meant to be a
mere spectacle of spooky fun, it soon turns into a true nightmare leaving the
teenagers, and the owner, battling for their lives.
My daughter is a huge fan of all of the OUIJA Movies, and I
have to say that this is not just a bad low budget entry; it is one of the
worst horror films I have seen in some time. Plus, attempting to fit this one
into the low budget OUIJA knock-off franchise is absolutely ridiculous. Of
course, I should have known better, but when she saw it at Family Video, we had
to rent it. I would usually follow at this spot with the positives, but
honestly, the only one is the subject matter with the overhyped Charlie Charlie
game that popped up as a fad. I just wish that had the staying power of
Slenderman, but it didn’t. The acting, the cinematography, the effects, and
scripting were all miserable. Really, there was nothing redeeming at all with
this one. In the end, I cannot in any way recommend this film. Stay Away!
