Bled (2009)

With a day off work and no kids in the house, I decided to watch some horror movies (and Woodstock) while cleaning up the downstairs. My first selection of the day was Bled (2009). I had no idea what to expect since I had never heard of it, and what I found was the reason why.

Plot/ Sai, a young artist living in a downtown warehouse delves into an ancient world of blood and lust. An enigmatic foreigner seduces her to try a long forgotten drug making her the prey of a dimensional vampire who needs her new found hunger for blood to cross over from his world to hers.

I am quite torn on this movie; part of me really likes some of the feel and tone, and with many Lovecraftian overtones. There is a very dark mood invoked within this kind of twisted love story. However, there are many flaws; the dialogue, effects, make-up and especially the acting is extremely below average. To be honest, these flaws make such an impact on destroying what could have been an interesting movie. I guess I am glad I saw it for free!
