Copycat (1995)

It is amazing how fast time flies by. It seems like only yesterday that this quarter started at PIA, instead, today was the last late night and the quarter ends Friday. With it, it will be another class and different material, change is good, right? While I did pull the extra hours, there was time in my evening to catch a decent flick when I got home, the 1995 mystery Copycat.

Plot/ An agoraphobic psychologist and a female detective must work together to take down a serial killer who copies serial killers from the past.

Copycat is not a great film by any means; however, it is one of the better suspense / thrillers that came out during the 1990s. It has everything to like in this genre.  The direction works, the acting is solid, the script does a great job at crafting an interesting story and it has a perfect soundtrack. On top the that, and possibly most importantly, it does a phenomenal job at creating atmosphere throughout. Yes, there are some uneasy moments in the script that seem like unneeded add-ons, but those are minor flaws. In the end, this is one of the better flicks in the genre and one that should be watched. If you have not seen it, check it out.
