Motel Hell (1980)

As I was preparing to watch the Crazies, I decided that I wanted something a bit different as I waited for the sun to set while drinking some PBR! Could there be a better flick than the 1980 horror-comedy Motel Hell to help pass the time? Not with a PBR in hand!

Plot/ Farmer Vincent kidnaps unsuspecting travelers and is burying them in his garden. Unfortunately for his victims, they are not dead. He feeds his victims to prepare them for his roadside stand. His motto is: It takes all kinds of critters...to make Farmer Vincent’s fritters.

For me, horror comedies often fall flat, but from time to time, one comes around that is definitely worth watching. Motel Hell is definitely one of those movies. Filled with wonderful atmosphere created by perfect country setting, there is a lot to like about this picture. The acting is good, the cinematography is excellent and there is a good combination of laughs and gore. The story does have its slow moments, but there is definitely enough comedy, suspense, and horror to make this a awesome viewing experience.

  1. I also loved the tagline to the film: It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer vincent's fritters.

    Definitely a classic.
